The State Building & Construction Trades Council of California is a statewide council of unions that advocates on behalf of construction workers in both the public and private sectors. It is affiliated with several national unions, including the Boilermakers, Teamsters and Ironworkers. The group largely donates to Democrats – it gave candidates and the state party at least $4.3 million since 2001, compared with $140,000 in donations to the GOP.
